Story Magic GCSE English Workshop

A free sixty minute workshop that will help your child produce a compelling narrative to wow the examiners in the GCSE English examination.

Creative writing is an integral part of GCSE English Language for all examination boards, but students sometimes struggle to know how to construct a narrative in timed conditions. Often their writing tends to lack focus and they become overwhelmed by the task, meaning that their story is not as effective as it could be.

We will explore the five stages of narrative, and how these can help students to develop and structure their ideas. In particular, we will look at ways to open a story and draw in the reader straightaway. Students will go away with a story plan and an opening section that they can develop into a high-level narrative which they can draw on in the examination.

The session is perfect for any students currently in Year Nine and Ten, as well as students in lower secondary years who are looking to get ahead and looking for a challenge.

The workshop will be accompanied by a workbook, with further ideas for independent study. The session runs via Zoom, and registration is essential.  To sign up your child, click here:
