Who is this suitable for?
This session is suitable for children taking both the CEM and GL 11+ test, as well as any Yr4 and 5 children who need further support with their writing skills.
What will you cover?
The session will look at how to plan and structure a story narrative. We will explore:
- What makes a story compelling?
- Why is planning so important?
- What are the five stages of narrative and how will they help me plan?
- What other techniques can I use to make my stories compelling to the reader?
What will my child produce?
- A story plan
- A story opening
- An action plan to help him/her continue
There will also be a workbook that you can continue to use with your child to support them with their story writing.
Who is running the session?
The session will be run by a qualified DBS-checked English teacher who is experienced in preparing students for the creative writing component of the 11+ examination.
When is it?
The workshop takes place on Tuesday 27th July at 10 am and will run via Zoom.
